Based in Southern California, Hobie has been inventing new ways to enjoy the water since 1950 with a product line that includes surfboards, sailboats, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pedalboards, and more.
Hobie came to Elastic Path with the need to build a D2C business model to outmaneuver their competition and meet their customer demands.
Elastic Path partnered with Hobie to commerce-enable their 200+ independent distributors network to access their inventory and enable buy online, pick up in-store (BOPIS).
When Hobie first came to Elastic Path, they only had a small apparel store on their website and lacked a commerce presence for their main line of water sports equipment. This gap became more apparent when their competitors started to build out their digital commerce experiences. To catch up to the competition, Hobie required a solution that would enable them to launch fast.
The main requirement for building out a D2C website was integrating their 200+ independent distributors for inventory and launch BOPIS. They also required a solution that was flexible enough to embed commerce throughout their own tech ecosystem for a true omnichannel experience for their customers.
