Fuzzy Search Logic

Typos, misspellings or incorrect context can lead to shopper frustration. Elastic Path Commerce accommodates spelling errors and similar problems to ensure your customers always find what they're looking for. And you can adjust the system's sensitivity to spelling errors to ensure search results are always appropriate and relevant. Fuzzy logic search accommodates:

Misspellings

Shoppers who type in 'cannon' will be delivered results for the correctly spelled 'canon'.

Alternate spellings

Especially relevant for stores selling into multiple geographies such as the US and Canada, 'color' and 'colour' will both return the same results.

Plurals

If the copy for a product does not include the plural version (i.e. This is a great hiking shoe), it will still be returned in the results for 'hiking shoes'.

Did you mean?

To eliminate the 'no results found' plague, similar matches are presented to a user when available.

Refinements

Shoppers can search for products by name, SKU, brand name, description or any other defined product attribute.

Restrictions

Searches can restricted to categories manually or automatically based on the category a user is currently browsing.
